A young man lost his life on Monday afternoon after he allegedly fell overboard from the jet ski he was operating.
Dead is Amar Shampersaud, a 27-year-old resident of Canal Polder Number Two, West Bank Demerara (WBD).
Reports are that on Monday afternoon, two of Shampersaud’s friends visited him and they left to go jet skiing at the conservancy, which is a short distance from his home.
Times International understands that Shampersaud would usually accompany his friends for the recreational activity at the nearby conservancy. This newspaper was told that the 27-year-old man, who could not swim, was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.
According to reports, Shampersaud fell off the jet ski while navigating a turn in the conservancy. This newspaper was told that when the man fell off the jet ski he went under the water but did not surface. His two friends reportedly combed the area but after not locating him, notified other persons in the area. The police were also informed.
However, as the search continued, Shampersaud’s body was spotted and taken out of the water.
