She was not required to enter a plea. The court was told that on Tuesday last at the couple’s Block 8 Mon Repos home, Beaton stabbed the father of her three children, Sam “Alien” Lall to death. After listening to the facts of the case, Magistrate Moore informed the shaken Beaton that she will be remanded to prison until November 9, when the matter will be called again. An autopsy on Lall’s remains revealed that he succumbed to stab wounds in the region of his heart.
Persons living in close proximity to the couple were alerted early last Tuesday after Beaton shouted that Lall was injured. One neighbour told this publication that upon reaching the couple’s home, he saw Lall braced against the front door with blood oozing from what appeared to be stab wounds to the chest.
The neighbour, who was identified as Paltooram Jaipaul, said he enquired from Beaton what had transpired, and she told him: “Uncle Jaio, meh nah able no more; meh just had to jok he with de knife”.
According to reports, the woman suffered years of abuse at the hands of Lall. Her mother, Rita Pritilal stated that weeks prior to the fatal incident, Beaton was mercilessly beaten with a hammer by Lall. Despite years of physical fights with her reputed husband, Beaton refused to end the relationship. But contrary to Pritilal’s accusations, the deceased’s family is claiming that Beaton was the aggressor.
