A woman who allegedly poured hot oil on her partner last week was on Monday remanded to prison on an attempted murder charge.
Thirty-year-old Latoya Angel, a salesgirl of Gangaram Village, East Canje, Berbice, appeared before Magistrate Peter Hugh at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court. The accused will appear in court on January 15, 2020.
Reports are that the couple had a heated argument and the woman was allegedly assaulted by the man.
The woman then waited until the victim was asleep, picked up the hot pot of oil from the stove and dumped the scorching liquid on the man.
Upon hearing the screams, neighbours rushed to his rescue and took him to the hospital. The police were summoned and the woman was arrested.
