A Toshao was on Wednesday remanded to prison when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on a charge of rape. The man was charged with raping and impregnating a 10-year-old relative. The incident was said to have occurred in Region One.

The Toshao was arrested last week after the child fell ill and was taken to seek medical attention, after which the startling discovery was made.

The welfare officials and Police were called in and tests prove that the girl was four months pregnant.
