Less than a month, three women have been murdered on the West Coast of Demerara; one found in a cemetery and two in their homes. The latest victim is Rochelle Mc Donald, 33, of Lot 70 Boodhoo’s Scheme, Blankenburg, West Coast Demerara. The woman who hailed from Enmore, East Coast Demerara was found dead in the kitchen of her home on Tuesday with multiple stab wounds.
The blood stained knife apparently used to carry out the gruesome murder was found at the scene by members of the Criminal Investigative Unit.
It is suspected that her husband may have committed the act as he was seen leaving the residence in a motor car PNN 9420, prior to the discovery.
The car was however found abandoned at Cartlon Hall, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, with no sign of the victim’s husband.
Meanwhile, this newspaper understands that the couple’s 11-year-old son, Kevin Rodney made the discovery after he went home from school for lunch.
He then raised an alarm and upon seeing what happened, the neighbours summoned the police.
This publication also learnt that the couple’s adopted son, Renaldo Doris was in the house at the time of the incident and witnessed the grisly murder.
The child told media operatives that Mc Donald and Rodney had an argument but after a while, his mother locked herself into a bedroom.
The child, who was still traumatised, said that Rodney started to “bang down” the door in an effort to get it open, but he was unsuccessful.
The child disclosed that as soon as his mother opened the door, his raging father picked up a knife from the kitchen table and slit her throat. The child fled the scene but was followed by Rodney who grabbed him, placed him in a car, and drove off.
The woman’s body was taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home and a post mortem examination is expected to be performed today (Wednesday). She leaves to mourn her sister, parents and two children.
