“Vanilla” ready to give up Road March Crown

– still promises magnificent performance

Local soca singer Melissa “Vanilla” Roberts has finalised her plans for Mashramani 2011, and she is promising Guyanese a magnificent performance for this year’s Mash Road March competition. This is in spite of her saying that she wants to relinquish the crown to her colleague and friend, B52, aka “Lil Man”.

“I’m quite sure B52 has talent, and that is why I think he deserves the crown,” the singer, who won the competition in 2007, 2009 and last year, said. She nevertheless urges “Lil Man” and other competitors to “work hard”.

Vanilla has already released her Mash song, “Soca Inside Me”, which was written by Adrian Dutchin, herself and Chief Executive Officer of Kross Kolor Studios, Burchmore Simon. She described her Mash piece as something for everyone. “Whatever group or crowd you are in, that song is for you,” she said, adding that the song has been making waves on the airwaves, and its video will be released tomorrow.

This vibrant young woman also disclosed that she has been receiving offers from a number of companies to be the one parading on their Mash bands.

After Mash, “Vanilla” will be taking part in a video production course to enhance the way her videos are produced. She is also planning to release two other soca songs in March.
