Travel writer to capture Guyana’s beauty in LIAT magazine

As Guyana’s tourism product continues to attract international attention, travel writer Ruth-Anne Lynch has been hired once again by LIAT to write about “Destination Guyana”.

An independent executive office professional, travel writer and radio broadcaster, British born Lynch, who has parents from Jamaica and Guyana, has already written on Guyana for several publications, including the Caribbean Beat magazine, Zing magazine (LIAT magazine), and the Rough Guides.

Lynch’s trip has been made possible through the efforts of the Tourism Industry, the Commerce Ministry, and the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA), in collaboration with Cortours, Evergreen Adventures, Hurakabra River Resort, Princess Hotel, Grand Coastal Inn, and Wilderness Explorers.

During her visit, the popular travel and lifestyle writer was given the opportunity to explore and witness some of Guyana’s tourism attractions and wonders, including its natural beauty; the Hurakabra Resort, Parrot Island, Marshall Falls, the Essequibo River, Bartica, and Orealla on the Corentyne River.

Lynch left Guyana when she was 15 years old. She said she promotes Guyana at every opportunity, and is learning much more about the country and what it has to offer.

Talking about her positive experiences during her recent trip, she said Guyana’s natural beauty can attract a huge market, and she is happy to see much work is being done in this area.

Lynch said she has chosen to combine her writing skills with her tourism qualifications in international business management, and when she visits places like resorts and hotels, she would usually lend her expertise and give advice to improve their business.

Apart from “Destination Guyana” receiving tremendous exposure through various regional and international publications, Guyana will also receive yet another major international boost from being featured in the series “Alone in the Wild”. Tigress Productions, a United Kingdom (UK) adventure productions company, has been commissioned by Discovery Networks to do two one-hour programmes for the popular television series titled “Alone in the Wild”, which is expected to be aired in September.

This will be another significant boost to Guyana’s international image. The much- anticipated British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) 10-part series retracing the footsteps of Sir Walter Raleigh in his search for the fabled City of Gold, El Dorado, is also expected to be aired in October.

Guyana was already featured in the BBC’s three-part series “Lost Land of the Jaguars” and the United States’ reality television series “Reel and Birding Adventures”.

A major plus for “Destination Guyana” is being featured in popular British film producer and creative director Russell Malkin’s new book called “101 Amazing Adventures of the World” which features the majestic Kaieteur Falls on its cover.
