Tires and you

It can safely be said that the majority of cars have on as their shoes used tires, either we can argue the expensive price of new tires or the relative affordability of foreign used tires. Regardless, tires are usually overlooked and taken for granted generally by their car driving owners.
Ever thought about and realised that virtually a little black square just about the surface area of a chalkboard eraser or thereabout makes contact on the black top? Well yes!
No matter if you’re driving a lemon or as we say corkball or something fit for South Dakota Circuit, your tires are just as important as what is under the hood. Look at it this way, all that power from the engine, sent through your transmission to your tires… if the tires are no good, you will have little to no control of the vehicle.
Your tires need to have enough traction or grip for it to be effective. Something you should not underestimate. For tires generally and used ones in particular the condition of the treads are important. Little or no treads will lead to what they call hydroplaning or aquaplaning, that’s what happens when a film of water gets between your tires and the road, making you skid because it lowers the friction. When you have proper treads, they essentially direct the water away from the tires and its path, maintaining a firm hold on the road and giving you better control.
Another thing to take note of is under and over inflation. Check the tires or your car manual for proper air pressures for the tire and make sure that this is always maintained. You risk blowouts, burning more gas, excessive tire wear when you neglect tire air pressure. Make sure you inspect the tires for foreign debris too, keep them clean!
Don’t forget to rotate your tires and take them for alignment checks too! Safe driving…
