Timeka Marshall crossing borders in Caribbean’s music industry

Guyanese artiste Timeka Marshall

During the past years, music lovers have seen and heard Guyanese Timeka Marshall solo and in duets with other regional acts. She has now teamed up with Jamaican dancehall sensation Konshens and the combination is electrifying.
Their song, which is produced by the Subkonshus label, tells the story of a woman tired of being the best kept secret while the video portrays a heartbroken exotic dancer … the rest is to be seen in the prequel coming soon. The video shoot is set for Marshall’s return to Jamaica. The director for that video is Gareth Cobran whose work with the artiste in the past include “Feel fah” and “Secretes/ Hush” featuring Jamaica’s Peetah Morgan.
But that’s just the tip of the iceberg in the world of Timeka as she’s got a few other new songs, such as the dancehall up tempo “Si How Mi Hot” on the Love Bug rhythm by producers Washroom Entertainment out of Jamaica.
That song is already heating up the airwaves in New York on the Hot 97.
Marshall also has in the works: “I’ll be there for you” on the focus rhythm; “Kisses softly” on the 9.58 rhythm; and “Stealing feeling” on the Sweet Ride rhythm.
As the year draws to a close, Marshall is working to release several videos that will certainly leave tongues wagging with requests for more.
This Guyanese beauty with quite a few releases to her name is not just a singer but a songwriter who has co-written hits for herself and other artistes. Marshall’s career took off after she won the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company Limited Jingle and Song Competition in 2006. And there is much more in store for her fans, word is she has already recorded yet- to- be released collaborations with Romain Virgo, Laza Morgan of “ One by One” fame, and D’ Major.
