At least three men, suspected to be bandits, were on Thursday shot dead by Police ranks on the Kingston Seawall Road in the vicinity of the GNS Sports Complex ground in Georgetown.
According to information reaching this newspaper, police ranks, acting on a tip off had started trailing the alleged bandits prior to them being killed.
A senior police official said that the police were conducting an “operation” when they came under fire.
After the crime scene was processed and the bodies were taken away, a police officer described the men as “trunkers” who break into vehicles and steal property.
Investigations are ongoing.
