Some seventeen Guyanese patients, including 15 children, have received urgent medical treatment for various heart ailments at the Max Hospital in Delhi, India through the Three Rivers Kids Foundation of Ontario, Canada.

All those children were suffering from congenital heart disease.

A statement from the charitable organisation said the children were suffering from various congenital heart disorders, such as Ventricular Septal Defects (VSD), Atrial Septal Defects (ASD), Patent Ductus Ateriosus (PDA), Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) and Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD).

“We had some very seriously ill children on this mission,” Jeanette Singh, a registered nurse and president of the foundation said. She had accompanied the group to Delhi. “In particular four-month- old Sachin Singh and five-year-old Pholmaitie Singh were gravely ill, and it is a miracle that they made it all the way to India,” Singh said.

The organisation’s president said that the mission was made possible through donation of Cdn$55,000 from Guyanese businessman Chris Mohan, who is based in Toronto, Canada. The foundation said it is also very grateful to the Health Ministry in Guyana for its financial contribution.

Mann Travel, of Brampton, Ontario, assisted in organising the trip from Toronto to Delhi.
