Three Guyanese to participate in T&T swim meet

Three Guyanese swimmers, Athena Gaskin, Britany van Lange and Onika George, will represent Guyana at the Amateur Swimming Association of Trinidad and Tobago’s (ASATT) Invitational Age Group Championships to be held at the Marlins Swimming Pool, Trinidad, starting today (Thursday).

George will participate in the 11- 12 age group, Gaskin in the 15 and over group, and van Lange will participate in the 13-14 category.

George, the youngest participant, will hit the pool in the 50m backstroke today.

She will also participate in the 100m freestyle tomorrow and the 100m backstroke and 50m freestyle on Sunday.

Gaskin is expected to compete in the 400m freestyle tomorrow, the 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly events along with the 200m freestyle and 50m breaststroke events on Saturday, and the 200m individual medley, 50m freestyle and 100m breaststroke on Sunday.

Van Lange will participate in the 50m, 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle, the 50m and 100m butter-fly, and the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke events.

The three swimmers have been representing Guyana throughout the year.
