Three face assault charges after affair accusation ends in seawall confrontation

A man who told Magistrate Judy Latchman that he caught his partner cheating on him, “which is why us men does murder them,” was on Monday released on G$120,000.
Forty-seven-year-old Laurel Gill of Lot 61 Cummings Street, North Cummingsburg initially admitted to unlawfully assaulting Seon Meredith at the seawall at Kingston, Georgetown.

Gill told the court that he caught the woman whom he was about to marry in a compromising position with Meredith in a car at the Kingston seawall. He claimed that when he caught the two he almost “fall unconscious”. According to the man, he did attack them, but not with a knife. He said he left the scene in a shocked and stunned state.
After hearing his story, Magistrate Latchman entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.
Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore, however, told the court that upon seeing the two, Gill pulled out a knife, which is in evidence, and attacked them, causing both to receive injuries.
He was nonetheless released on bail and expected to reappear in court on May 21.
Meanwhile, the woman, 30-year-old Telesha Dazzle, and Meredith were also crossed charged for assaulting Gill, and were each placed on G$30,000 bail.
Meredith told the court he is the son of the owner of a property where Dazzle houses her business.
He noted that her husband constantly accuses him of having an affair with the woman, but he denied this accusation.
The man told the court that on the day in question, he and Dazzle went shopping when she started complaining of headaches. As such, they went to the seawall to “get some breeze.” That case will also continue on May 21.
