This blatant bias is too unjust

Dear Editor,

Living in cold North America (USA) can be hellishly uncomfortable at times. This is due to a number of reasons, the latest being the matter surrounding a well-known newspaper publisher in Guyana.

I am wondering: here, why is it that this man and his entourage are so feared? The country came down on Kwame McCoy, and he was recently arraigned.

Then Commissioner Henry Greene goes into abeyance in order to facilitate investigations into rape allegations leveled against him.

Mind you, Greene is the ‘top dog’ in the police force. So the question is bursting in me: why no investigation into the alleged wrong doings of this person. This is more than enough to warrant interrogation at the least. What is quite shocking too is that this man is deliberately playing ‘possum’. He is silent and is not uttering a single word. Yet he is brazen. No one caught in such a quagmire remains mute.

This I know from childhood that ‘no one does go a crab dance, and nah get mud’. Now I am also following the recent attacks on Minister Irfaan Ali by Khemraj Ramjattan. If there is a modicum of fairness on Ramjattan’s part, then he will call for an investigation into the activities of this particular newspaper publisher as well.

Many have been shouting tirades regarding investigations into corrupt government officials. So, I am wondering how come what is ‘good for the gander is not good for the goose’. The blatant bias is just too much.

Constantly, I am being quizzed by many non-Guyanese. The impression they have of Guyana is shocking: a hell-hole; impending starvation; daily shootings; wholesale smuggling and an overwhelming cocaine culture. This is so absurd.

I have evidence to the contrary. Many of my family members live in Guyana. Yes, the country has it challenges, but it is growing. Guyana is still a good place and getting better.

Yours truly,

Ramnarine Doodnauth, Long Island (New York), USA
