A West Bank Demerara (WBD) teen lost his life on the Bagotville Public Road on Wednesday night and his friend is in a critical condition when the motorcycle in which they were traversing on collided head-on with a hire car.
Dead is 19-year-old, Dan Batson while 20-year-old, Trevon Callender, the pillion rider is currently battling for his life at the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH).
According to reports, the duo were proceeding on motorcycle CJ 2217 without headlamps south along the public road reportedly at a fast rate at about 8:30h when they collided with the car HC 3870.
As a result of the collision, the duo were flung from the motorcycle unto the eastern side of the road.
The driver of the car, a 24-year-old resident of Sisters Village, West Bank Demerara (WBD) told Police that prior to the collision, Batson attempted to apply brakes but failed.
Both men were quickly picked up and rushed to the hospital where Batson was pronounced dead on arrival. Callender was admitted in a critical condition.
A breathalyzer test conducted on the driver of the motorcar showed no trace of alcohol on his breath.
