Four competitors from the United States of America, along with defending Group 2A and Go- kart champion Ravi Singh of Trinidad and Tobago will compete in the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR& SC) Race Meet on for Sunday at the South Dakota Circuit. Among the categories to be contested are the Rookies, ‘B’ Class Superbikes, Groups ‘2A’ and ‘B’, Go- karters and 125cc bikes.
According to Rayon Samaroo, Manager of GMR& SC, several racers in the respective categories have already signaled their participation. Samaroo said that despite the inclement weather, fans will be in for a treat.
“I know the weather has played its part, but preparation is fully up and running; the Meet will still be held and competitors have already committed to participating in the event,” Samaroo said.
He is appealing to all the competitors to equip themselves with the ‘rain tyres’, since more rain is forecast for Sunday.
In the Rookies division, the Ali brothers, Roshan and Asad, will once again attempt to dominate the opposition.
In the ‘B’ Class Superbikes division, fans will see the newcomers in action and current champion Carey Griffith will be hoping to continue his supremacy over Kwame ‘Supa Sic” Ridley and a host of other riders.
Danny Persaud, Afraz Ali, Chet Singh, Roshan Ali, Shairaz Roshandin, Jad Rahaman, Syed Hassan, Aaron Bethune and father and son combination of Harold and Denzel Hopkinson are expected to compete in the Group ‘2A’ class for the rookies.
The ‘2B’ should provide similar excitement and exhilarating action with Danny Persaud, Shairaz Roshandin, Afraz Allie, Gavin Gouveia and Vishal Sawh, all capable of producing nerve tingling battles.
