Lakshmee Singh, originally from the village of Little Diamond, East Bank Demerara in recent years has been a prominent personality in the Indo-Caribbean community in New York City (NYC).
Lakshmee is the host of the popular and first international Indo-Caribbean talk show “Let’s Talk With Lakshmee”, currently shown in NYC and Guyana.
This week, Lakshmee Singh celebrates her second anniversary of her talk show “Let’s Talk With Lakshmee”. “This innovative talk show is a show about us, our people, our culture, our community, and our experiences, while focusing on highlighting our perceptions and analysis of the issues that confront our community,” she said.
While the show lends flavour to the sensitivities of the local people, it gives focus to issues related to medicine, immigration, religion, culture, politics, entertainment, and the likes. It strives to maintain a professional standard while emulating mainstream television.
“Let’s talk with Lakshmee” airs in New York on Saturday’s at 17:30h on TWC Channel 96 since its inception, and 14 months later is being aired in Guyana on Sunday’s at 12:30h on NTN Channel 18 Cable 69. Currently, Lakshmee is in the process of possibly launching the show in a third country as it marks its second anniversary.
Having a liking for dancing growing up, she has been on stage since the tender age of five and has performed for large audiences at prestigious venues such as Westbury Music Fair and The Continental Arena.
Lakshmee also taught and coached many groups of young girls for stage performances. She has played many leading roles in several stage productions both in the U. S. and Guyana with rave reviews. Apart from being a talented artiste and multifaceted performer in the arts, she is very active in social, cultural and charitable activities in the Indo-Caribbean community in New York.
Lakshmee has been active in hosting shows, weddings, parties and a variety of social and cultural events.
Inspired by her mother, Dolly Singh, over the past three years Lakshmee successfully managed the annual “Diwali Parade/ Motorcade and Cultural Show” event in Richmond Hill, New York which draws thousands.
Her love for people and commitment to her culture has driven her to lend her enormous skills and talent, free of cost to social, cultural and humanitarian activities. She maintains a close relationship and affinity to many local artistes, and political and religious personalities in the community.
