…while receiving treatment at hospital
The two men who were wanted in connection with the execution-style killing of a taxi driver at Two Brothers Service Station, Eccles, East Bank Demerara (EBD) were nabbed while receiving treatment at a private city hospital. Guyana Times International was told that based on information received, Police swooped down on the private hospital where the men sought treatment.
According to Police, both men were being treated for injuries consistent with that of a motor vehicle accident. One of the suspects is a 25-year-old resident of Albouystown, Georgetown. On Tuesday evening at about 19:30h chaos erupted on the East Bank of Demerara when two men who were on a motorcycle, rode up alongside Kelvin Walters, who was in his car, and shot the young father to his face. He was in the car with his wife and their five-year-old daughter.
Investigations revealed that the 35-year-old man was proceeding south along the eastern carriageway of the road in motorcar PXX 1509 with his wife and child and whilst in the vicinity of Two Brothers Service Station, Eccles, EBD, the men pounced on him. After being shot, Walters slammed into the two men on the bike. The suspects fell onto the roadway but hurriedly got up and escaped on foot leaving behind the motorcycle and the weapon. Walters, who is an ex-soldier was pulled from his motorcar and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Walters is said to be the main witness in a case which is expected to come up in the High Court shortly.
