CMRC ‘Race of Champions’…

Guyana will be represented by a strong contingent of Superbike riders this Sunday for the third and final leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) Race of Champions meet to be held at the South Dakota Circuit.
It is considered one of the strongest contingents of Superbike teams the country has ever fielded and therefore motor racing fans can expect a fascinating spectacle. The Guyanese riders will be led by defending regional champion Stephen ‘Valentino Rossi’ Vieira and he is anticipating support from Carlos Rodrigues, Joel Neblett and the Canadian-based Kevin Graham.
Guyana Times International Sport caught up with Neblett on Tuesday at the GMR&SC headquarters, who said that fans can expect something special from him in this weekend’s showdown.
“Yes, despite the limited time available for training fans can expect something special from me, I have invested in a new bike for this weekend race so I just hope everything will go as planned,” Neblett said.
Questioned about his 2010 RC machine, Neblett said that it is about 80 per cent ready, and is optimistic that it will be ready for the anticipated rivalry among the Caribbean’s best riders.
“It’s a new model to the last bike which was 2007 RC so its lot more adjustments have to be made since it’s a different frame, different chasse and a different suspension,” Neblett told this newspaper.
Asked of the team’s readiness for the task ahead of this weekend’s showdown, the reticent Superbiker said, “I know that we have a strong team and it is now just about going out there and finishing the job but what makes our riding a little more difficult is that our team is riding on ‘Race Gas or VP fuel’, but we will standardise the class next year so everybody will ride on pump gas”.
