Star-studded line-up for ‘Foreign Invasion’ card on December 28

A star-studded cast has been put together for the ‘Foreign Invasion’ boxing card billed for December 28 at a venue to be announced later.
The card, which is a collaborative effort of Hurry Up Promotions, Elton Dharry and Pearl Shivlochan of Pearl Vodka, will feature a number of overseas boxers coming up against local opponents.
The main attraction will see Dharry putting his World Boxing Council (WBC) Caribbean Boxing Federation (CABOFE) bantamweight title on the line against Rudolph ‘Cutting Edge’ Hedge of Jamaica. In the main supporting bout, Barbados-based Guyanese Revlon Lake will look to defend his national lightweight (135lbs) title against Guyanese, Clive Atwell, who is based in Dominica.
Moore is also slated to fight on the card, but his opponent has not yet been confirmed.
On the undercard, Edmond DeClou will take on Shaka Henry of Barbados in a 10-round middleweight contest; Barbados’ Sean Cox will face Leon Gilkes in an eight-round cruiserweight rematch; and Gladwin Dorway will confront Shawn Pile in a six-round welterweight fight.
The 27-year-old ‘Coolie Bully’ Dharry enters the main bout on the heels of four successive knockout wins, the latest being against Gabriel Cruz in September in New York. With that win, Dharry improved to 10-5-1 from 16 fights.
His opponent, ‘Cutting Edge’ Hedge is unbeaten after 10 fights, with seven wins and three drawn encounters.
In the supporting clash, Atwell will start with the psychological advantage after getting the better of Lake when they first met in July. Atwell emerged with a fourth round knockdown, and has since remained unbeaten, stretching his record to eight wins and one draw from nine outings in the ring.
Lake, on the other hand, has suffered five defeats in his last seven fights, shrinking to six wins, seven losses and two draws from 15 fights.
Fight time is 20:00 hours. (Avenash Ramzan)
