Guyana Fashion Weekend, with its impressive five years run and its ambitious move to a biennial, developmental programme, look out for Guyana Fashion Weekend VI in 2013; reality television series – Designer/ Stylist Portfolio and Guyana Model Search featuring upcoming designers, budding stylists, aspiring models and Diatribe.

2012 will be a year-long celebration of this turning point in the biography of Sonia Noel. Incidentally, the number 15 seems to bear some uncanny relevance. It is said that when born on the fifteenth, as this industrious Leo is, one is blessed with the ability to bring happiness to others.

Astrologers also say that the number 15 influences personality traits, endowing strong personal magnetism and a preference for the Arts. In addition, there exists a powerful appeal to altruistic and charitable ventures.

All these numerological indicators point to this talented daughter of the soil.

With this in mind, the GFW executive kicks off with a tribute at Duke Lodge on January 19, highlighting Sonia’s 15 favourite culinary delicacies, displaying 15 models in a 15 minute fashion capsule.

This auspicious tribute serves to commemorate her re-commitment to the creative arts and in an effort to validate this pledge, Sonia Noel will be setting up the Sonia Noel Foundation for Creative Arts (SNFCA) with its mission to explicitly foster and promote youth empowerment and sustainable development initiatives within the creative industry.

The SNFCA will also parlay the burgeoning activity of the creative arts tone work related associations within the multi-lingual territories of the Caribbean.

Over the last decade, the creative energies have become one of the driving forces of sustainable development initiatives of international economies, so much so that sheer unadulterated talent has facilitated nontraditional income generation and phenomenal event tourism ventures, allowing a share of the multi-billion dollar new age creative industry.

Already honoured for her outstanding dedication to fashion art and its adjuncts, within the region, by The U. S. Virgin Islands Fashion Weekend and recently contributing to Mission Catwalk, a Jamaican reality television series designed to unearth and develop fashion talent, Sonia proves steadfast in carrying the mantle of empowerment through creative energy.
