Slingerz Annual DJs face-off slated for February 5

The annual “Slingerz Family DJs Face-Off,” an event that is highly anticipated by local DJs on the West Bank and West Coast of Demerara, is slated for February 5 at the Uitvlugt Community Centre Ground; but this year’s competition will also include top DJs from across Guyana. This announcement was made by top officials of the entertainment group on Thursday, during an interview with Guyana Times Entertainment.

According to Hilbert Franklin, public relations officer and entertainment consultant for Slingerz, contestants can expect stiffer competition this year, with the introduction of the other DJs from across the nation. “We want flavour and at the same time (to) give the local DJs the opportunity to showcase their talent”.

More than 18 DJs are expected to be competing for the grand prize of Gy$200,000 and two Blackberry cellular phones, complements of Digicel, the Bigger Better Network.

“The DJs have to abide by the rules of the competition, which include: no foul language, no playbacks and, more importantly, no violations”, the top brass added. Any DJ who wishes to enter the competition is asked to call Franklin on 676-2400.

However, when asked about the Slingerz Family and Wildfire Entertainment’s plans for 2011 — since the two entertainment giants have merged — he related that the merge is a good thing, and it will put them in a better position to put new cards on the table, which will definitely make for an eventful 2011.

He said that the one entity is primarily focusing on Slingerz’s 10th Anniversary Celebration, which will occur during the Easter Weekend. He explained that the group will be promoting ten activities in celebration of this 10-year mile stone.

“There will be ten massive concerts across Guyana for the Slingerz 10th Anniversary, but we don’t want to disclose any further information; but all I can say is that the Slingerz Family and Wildfire Entertainment fans will be in for a treat. It will be fun topped with fun.” Franklin opined.
