Sir Viv was unfair in his comments regarding Ramdin’s performance as a player

Dear Editor,
Having read in the print media of Guyana Times International Volume 94, Week ending June, 10, 2012. Pg 9. “Lara’s opinion valid, but will not really work,” by Deniss Hawthorne, I ask that you please allow me to make a few comments, in this regard. I will also comment on a recent critical remark by Sir Vivian Richards, about Dinesh Ramdin’s batting performance.
I like to give my support to Deniss for the comments he made about Lara’s statement he made about Chanderpaul. Perhaps I would like to remind him to look up Chanderpaul’s records and he will see how aggressive he can be at times.
Reference to Sir Viv’s statement against Dinesh and the top four batsmen in the WI team at present, and I simply do think he was unfair to Ramdin and not the others, who were failing consistently. That’s why when Ramdin made his 100 runs that day, he had a slip of paper with a message for Sir Viv which read “Yea Viv. talk nah.”
I don’t mind people’s commenting; but they must do so constructively, that is they must also select their replacement, if they are better than the present crop of players. There seems to be a lot of pressure on the WI team from the way Ramdin showed the note to the media. Just imagine you score 100 not out and you are not even smiling. Congrats to Tino Best for his 95.

Yours truly,
Hafiz Mohamed,
New York
