Shilpa Shetty to proform at Jamzone’s Bollywood, Chutney and Filmi Night

Renowned Bollywood actress and supermodel, the sexy and charming Shilpa Shetty, has been confirmed as the main act of the Jamzone Bollywood, Filmi and Chutney Night, slated for the Guyana National Stadium at Providence on August 20, 2011.

She will share the spotlight with Trinidad’s most popular crossover band, Karma, and the Shiv Shakti Dance Troupe, also out of Trinidad and Tobago, when the event is hosted. Public relations consultant of the event, Joel Ghansham, in his presentation to the media on July 28, related that Shetty is all excited to perform in Guyana for the first time, and promises the audience a fabulous and entertaining show.

Ghansham revealed that he and Bindu Kohli out of New York are tying up all the arrangements for Shetty’s performance on stage, and more importantly, her stay in Guyana.

This show promises to be one of a lifetime, since patrons will have a chance to see the actress in person.

This Bollywood beauty, born on June 8, 1975, made her debut in the film “Baazigar” in 1993, and has appeared in nearly 40 Bollywood, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films since. Her first leading role was when she filmed the 1994 hit “Aag”. In a career that has had its ups and downs, Shetty has been willing to reinvent herself. Her performances, in “Dhadkan” in 2000 and “Rishtey” in 2002, were welcomed and well received by the Indian critics; while her portrayal of an AIDS patient in “Phir Milenge” in 2004 won her many accolades.

Some of her other films include “Om Shanti Om”, “Fareb”, “Dus”, “Dostana”, “Apne”, and “Dus Kahaniyaah”. Shetty has worked with some big names in Bollywood, like Shah Rukh Khan, Amrish Puri, Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Sunil Shetty, John Abraham, and Abhishek Bachchan.

After taking part in the British celebrity TV show “Big Brother” in 2007, Shetty was crowned the winner with 63 per cent of the final vote, after a racism- tinged controversy involving her and fellow contestants Jade Goody, Jo O’Meara and Danielle Lloyd.

This was followed by a revival of her popularity in the film industry in 2007 when she appeared in two successive movies, “Life in a Metro” and “Apne”, with her performance in the former drawing positive reviews.
