Strikers Sheldon Holder and Vurlon Mills were the Golden Jaguars players to score over the weekend during the final round of fixtures in the 2012 Digicel Trinidad and Tobago Pro League (TTPL).
Both players participated in the match between Neal and Massy Caledonia AIA, which has a large contingent of Guyanese players, and T& TEC FC, which finished 3-2, in favour of the former.
Holder, who has impressed since he recently signed with Caledonia, scored in the 12th and 61st minutes, while Mills who netted a hat-trick last week during T& TEC’s 6-1 drubbing of Police FC, scored a lone brace in 14th minute.
Caledonia’s victory was a bitter blow for Mills and T& TEC, as they ended up losing the Pro League title to Winners Connection by just a singular point.
Also in the TTPL, the Guyanese duo at the North East Stars Club in Charles Pollard and Kayode McKinnon completed their season with a 2-0 triumph over St. Ann’s Rangers. That result placed North East Stars in sixth place in the eight-team league and the completion of the season. Moving on the Golden Jaguars players, plying their trade in the English Leagues, defender Leon Cort’s side Charlton Athletic continued their dominance in League One with a further victory at the weekend. Cort got his third consecutive start as Charlton toppled 19th place Leyton Orient 2-0 en route to maintain a six-point lead in table over Sheffield United. Versatile left side player Chris Bourne was in action as his team Metropolitan Police lost 2-1 away from home to 17th place Harrow Gate. That win slipped Metropolitan Police down to 12th place in the 22-team Ryam Isthman League table.
Right-winger Shakes was active as his Conference national team Ebbsfleet also lost their weekend fixture 1-0 to third place Mansfield Town. National right-back Jake Newton’s team in the English Conference South Division Havant & Waterlooville, is battling to stay in that division next season after suffering another setback, losing 3-2 to Basingtone Town.
