Seventh annual ‘Fusion of Taste’ in Toronto promises to be spectacular

The 7th Annual Albion Islington ‘Fusion of Taste’ 2013 has been officially launched and the organisers have promised patrons much excitement with a well-planned schedule of fun activities. The event is slated to take place on Saturday July 20, 2013 at the intersection of Albion Road and Islington Avenue, Etobicoke, On.
‘Fusion of Taste,’ is a one day signature event of Albion Islington Square, a rich multicultural community known for its gold and diamond jewellery, rich fabrics from around the world and its diverse culinary offerings. The festival is a showcase of cultural dancing, a wide range of performing artists, an art show and vendors with diverse cultural wares.
The organisers, in a press statement on the launch of this year’s festival, noted that “each year ‘Fusion of Taste’ looks for ways to enhance the visitor experience and that innovation is pivotal of the event.”
During the event, known personalities of the community are inducted at the ‘Wall of Fame.’ Past recipients include Tiger Jeet Singh, Tiger Ali Singh and George Chuvalo, while this year’s recipient is Spider Jones.
There is also a window dressing competition that would see participation of fashion stores between July 1 and July 18, 2013. During this period, patrons would be allowed to vote for their favourite window.
Additionally, voting is open online at www.albionislingtonsquare.org for the culinary fest that includes several restaurants vying for a ‘People’s Choice’ award. Further, a double eating competition is scheduled for July 20 as well as an ‘on the spot’ drawing competition.
The organisers have stated that “with the involvement of international performers, the crowd’s excitement is overwhelming each year,” and this year promises to be even better.
“Fusion of Taste has become an anchor festival in the North West corner of the City of Toronto. The festival programming provides a cross culture experience,” the event’s organisers have stated, noting that the activities cater to all ages as there would be face painting, tattoo artist, caricaturist, magic show, stilt walker, amusement rides, kids corner and many more attractive things to do.
The mission of ‘Fusion of Taste’, the organisers reminded, is to “bring together ethno-cultural associations and interested community members with the aim of making Albion Islington Square BIA a more diverse and welcoming community.”
