Sensei Bobb on US National Team for China next year

Guyanese karate sensation, Sensei Troy Bobb, has been selected by famous kick-boxer Billy Blanks and NAFMA Director, Master Jose Rorres II, to be a part of the U.S. national team that will tour China in 2012.

Bobb was the only Caribbean representative at the National Karate Championship in New York this year. In preparation for this tour, Bobb was under training five days a week in New Jersey, Long Island and Manhattan with Banks.

Bobb said he is honoured to be in such a recognised team and is even more honoured and excited to be going to China, since it would be his first trip to the country.

He has been in the sport since 1987, and describes it as his passion. His most recent tournament was the National Karate Championship which he attended in May this year which was held in New York where he secured first place in Kata, Weapons and Musical; a tour to Trinidad and Tobago last year October, and a tour to the US to represent Guyana in the United States Karate Alliance Nationals which also took place in October of last year.

At the moment he is training at the Harpy Eagle Martial Arts Academy, which is located in his home village Beterverwagting.

He is the head instructor at the facility and he is urging those desirous of learning martial arts to join the academy.

He also wishes to express gratitude to his family and friends from both Guyana and the US for support.
