‘Runway cleared’ for American Airlines in Guyana

…Govt grants full approval to begin operations

Major US carrier, American Airlines, has been granted full approval by the Guyana Government to begin servicing the Guyana market later this year.
This disclosure was made by Minister of State, Joseph Harmon, at his post-cabinet press briefing on Thursday in Georgetown.

The top government official said that the approval came after the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) found the airline’s application to be satisfactory.
American Airlines will begin its service in mid-November with four flights per week between Miami and Georgetown.
Members of American Airlines met with the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) on June 12, 2018 at the Authority’s head office in Kingston.
The authorities in Guyana had expressed pleasure at such a well-established airline showing an interest in the Guyana market.
American Airlines is one of the largest US-based carriers.
