During a Police outreach held in Queenstown village on the Essequibo Coast, Deputy Commander of ‘G’ Division, Marlon Taylor, was present and he reminded residents about their legal rights and explained the procedures in reporting and observing illegal activities within their area.
Extending a hand of friendship to the residents, Taylor added that the Guyana Police Force is seeking to build partnerships in all communities throughout Guyana.
Residents thus used the opportunity to request the establishment of a Police outpost in the community.
Many persons declared at the outreach that there has been an increase in drug trafficking in the community, and they claim this development is a direct result of unemployment.
Residents also requested increased Police patrols and truancy campaigns in the area.
Head of the Region Two Traffic Department, Sergeant Alfred Parks, spoke to residents about road safety. He reminded residents about safe road usage, and their rights as passengers when travelling in hire cars.
The outreach was one of several planned by ‘G’ Division Police to connect with residents in Region Two.
