Replacing a damaged lamp holder/bulb socket

I used to see a lot of electrical fittings like bulb sockets and so made of this white metal back in the day.  Now, we have mostly plastic electrical fittings…the market is flooded with them, however some of them come with questionable quality.
One problem I see is that over time, they get brittle and either crack up or worse, some of them even get discolored. I have installed a few of them [those that are mounted on a wall] and as soon as you tighten them, they crack…with that said, make sure you buy quality stuff, your pocket will thank you in the long run.
Now changing one of these sockets/holders is simple enough, but I want you to pay notice to a few points…so here we go:
Tools and materials needed:
1.    Terminal screwdriver
2.    Slip joint pliers
3.    New socket/lamp holder
1.    Turn off the power supply from the circuit breaker preferably and then once the bulb is cool, take out the bulb.
2.    Some sockets have a cover over the wire, if so; screw/pull it out to expose the wire. Use the terminal screwdriver and carefully back away the holding screws and take out the wire. This may be a good chance to inspect the wire ends, you can always cut the end and peel out a fresh end.
3.    After removing the old socket, slip through the new one and reconnect, you most likely will be dealing with two core flex cables, no need for earth. After connecting the terminals, make sure you wrap both wires around the part to fit the wire snug, so that if pulled will take off the strain from the terminals and the connection will remain secure [important].
4.    Screw/fit on the cap and that’s it.
