Proud of developments in my region

Dear Editor,

I am an Amerindian youth from Region Nine, but I am temporarily residing in Georgetown with some friends. I must say that I am extremely happy that the government has found some money to help improve conditions as a whole in my village.

Lethem is an important place in my region. In fact, it is the most important place in my region, as it is like a town, with everything: police station, hospital, airfield, and is the gateway to neighbouring Brazil.

Monies spent to develop my region will not go to waste, as apart from better roads and bridges, etc in Lethem, improvements need to be carried out in other areas in the region. Yes, these are areas that have been waiting for a very long time for government to carry out works to improve the living conditions of the people. I think that about Gy$1.1 billion has been allocated in this year’s budget for the improvement of the region and I hope that the authorities will spend the money wisely to give our people important and improved amenities. My friends and I cannot wait to return to our region to see the developments that are taking place there.

Cooperatively,

Ignatius Charles
