The Promenade Gardens will be in full bloom today, as the second annual Kids Fest 592 kicks off. This event is one of many activities being staged countrywide for Easter 2018 celebrations. According to the Director at AOne events and the founder of Kids Fest 592, Ms. Natalya Thomas, the highly anticipated activity, is geared towards promoting the country’s cultural diversity through music, dance, fashion and games. In addition, it provides the perfect opportunity for the children to express themselves and to explore their interests and passion.
While there are many activities to look forward to, for both kids and their parents, the event’s main attraction is the grand Princess Pageant; the delegates in each category will be competing in talent, theme wear (Easter) and Formal Wear. Each group will have an overall Queen and runner up. Of the 16 contestants, seven will participate in the 4-6 age category; six in the 7-11 age category and two in the 12-15 age category.“Our main attraction is the Miss Kids fest 592 pageant, and our theme concept is Alice in Wonderland. There will be vending, games, puppet show, bouncy castles and much more. However, the special aspect will definitely have to be that we have 16 beautiful girls in the pageant. We will also be having a tea party every half an hour for the event.” Ms. Thomas explained during an interview with the Guyana Times Sunday Magazine.
Special awards will be given in each age group for Best Dress, Best personality and Most Creative. The winner will also receive trophies and medals in each category. There will also be an award for most Photogenic.
The delegates will be judged in personality, performance, smile, confidence, dress, grooming, stages presence, modeling ability overall presentation and spirit, the Organiser added.
She emphasised too that the concept is to bring the children’s wildest imaginations to life. Kids and their families will also have the chance to participate in many other activities including face painting, clown show, candyland, bouncy castles, magic shows, Disney characters, and the talent show, which aims to nurture character and build confidence.
Kids Fest 592 is the brainchild of Natalya Thomas of ‘A One Events’ and Nadia Thomas of Duo Collection. The duo recognised the importance of the family to community development. Added to this, they also saw the need for quality children’s entertainment and activities; consequently they worked with a variety of quality children’s brands and entertainment companies to bring this large outdoor festival to reality. Now in its second year, the activity continues to foster relationship building, it encourages the children’s creativity and provides wholesome entertainment for the entire family.
Given the benefits of such an activity, Ms. Thomas used the opportunity to encourage families to visit the Promenade Gardens today. She said, “I would say use this opportunity to come out and have fun with your family for a day of exciting activities.”
