ProAm Boxing to ignite Berbice – National flyweight title at stake

Competitive boxing will return to the Ancient County of Berbice on October 23. That is the date when the Pocket Rocket Boxing Gym of New Amsterdam will stage its second ProAm boxing card. The venue is the famous All Saints Scot Church ground situated at Princess Elizabeth Road in New Amsterdam.

According to organizer Orland ‘ Pocket Rocket’ Rogers, boxing fans could expect another sumptuous treat of boxing, which his organization is noted for. Among the serving will be a clash for the national Flyweight title of Guyana. Ten bouts are listed on the night’s card with Rogers himself set to challenge old foe Wilmut Hudson for the national flyweight title of Guyana.

Rogers who was recent ly injured in a motor vehicle on the Linden highway, told the media that he is recovering well and is working himself into full fitness and will be ready to take out Hudson come fight night. The last time the two men met the fight ended in a draw.

Apart with the Rogers Hudson match up the card is laced with mouth watering fights which includes three other professional encounters.

In a welterweight con test Mark Murray will try to turn back the challenge of home town boy Gladwin Dorway fighting out of the Pocket Rocket Boxing Gym.

Another bout will see Kwesi Jones matching gloves with Edmond DeClou in the middle weight division and in a female encounter Kinda Rogers is set to trade punch es with Debbie Tyson.

The organization which is headed by Assistant Superintendent Charles Roberts of the New Amsterdam town constabulary has also lined up six amateur boxing matches, which will see fighters from the host Gym battling against pugilist from the Guyana Defence Force, Harpy Eagle and the Forgotten Youth Foundation.

The organizers are also calling on the business community to come out and be a part of the boxing extravaganza.
