President accredits new Canadian high commissioner

President Bharrat Jagdeo with the newly-accredited Canadian High Commissioner to Guyana, David Devine

New Canadian High Commissioner to Guyana David Devine vows to continue the longstanding relationship that exists between Canada and Guyana, which he said holds tremendous potential for economic growth and investment.

This was the promise made after he presented his letters of credence to President Bharrat Jagdeo at State House, and acknowledged that a mutual commitment to democracy, prosperity and security are some of the common values.

“I will be working hard to make sure that this happens in a socially responsible manner,” High Commissioner Devine assured during a statement to the media shortly after a discourse with the head of state. The high commissioner is the holder of a BA in political science; he is fluent in English and French and has worked in various departments in Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
