PPP meeting in New York a success – ACG

Dr Raj Singh in discussion with other members of the ACG at a recent event in New York

The Association of Concerned Guyanese – USA said on May 1st that the recent New York meeting between PPP/C presidential candidate Donald Ramotar and supporters was a huge success, despite the efforts of the two major opposition parties to disrupt the event.

At the well-attended event, President Bharrat Jagdeo declared that Donald Ramotar would make an excellent president because he is not bigoted; and, like Cheddi Jagan, he is guided by the philosophy to struggle for the rights of the people and to ensure that Guyana continues to be developed for all of our people. “He has what it takes to be in charge of the future of Guyana”. However, President Jagdeo described the presidential candidate for the main opposition People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR), David Granger, as “a fossil from an era that destroyed Guyana and took away our people’s rights”.

Chairman of the Association of Concerned Guyanese – USA, Dr Raj Singh, moderated the event. Among those in attendance were New York City council members Leroy Comrie and Ruben Wills, Tourism Minister Manniram Prashad, and Guyana’s Consul General Brentnol Evans.
