Our water woes are a thing of the past

Dear Editor,

I must say the government of Guyana continues to deliver its services to the citizens of the country in a timely manner. This time, it is the people of Cummings Lodge who are the recipients of a Gy$101 million well station, which was commissioned recently by Housing and Water Minister Irfaan Ali.

I was told that the new facility will not only improve water services to the residents of Cummings Lodge, but also the people of A, B, C, D and E Fields Sophia who have been experiencing problems in the past with potable water. I attended the commissioning of the station and was amazed when the minister in his address said that in the last five years, the Housing and Water Ministry has expended more than Gy$3.6 billion in the water sector in Region Four alone.

After listening to the minister, I got a better understanding of the entire water distribution network for the benefit of the people, including hinterland residents, which runs into billions of dollars.

I think this government has done more for the people in the area of providing potable water supply than any other government. I would like to express gratitude on behalf of the residents of Cummings Lodge for the improved delivery of water.

Yours cooperatively,

Cummings Lodge resident
