Opposition Leader hears of various concerns during hinterland visit

jagdeo1Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo has concluded his Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo).

Over the past week, Jagdeo visited a number of communities in the Region where residents raised major issues affecting them and their livelihood. Among the major issues raised are the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) into land ownership, and the impact of the plummeting economy and the shortage of basic medical supplies on their communities.

Over the weekend, the Opposition Leader visited Aishalton and Tabatinga among other communities.

The Opposition Leader had been in the Region since last Tuesday when he, along with a team of parliamentarians, including Irfaan Ali, as  well as a number of the Party’s regional officials, met with residents of Annai, Rupertee, Wowetta, Kwatamang, Apoteri, Crash Water, Massara, Kwaimatta, Yakarinta, Toka, Tiger Pond, Pipang and Taushida.

At the communities, they were treated to cultural presentations and held fruitful discussions with members.

Jagdeo had also addressed the Regional Toshaos Council in Lethem on Thursday.

Those discussions centred on national and regional development.
