One-Stop-Shop service to be taken into interior next year – 400 house lots distributed at Non Pariel, ECD

Some 400 persons were granted house lots at Section D, Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara last Saturday when the Housing and Water Ministry and the Central Housing and Planning Authority hosted another One-Stop-Shop at the primary school.

The One-Stop-Shop received an overwhelming turnout from potential house lot owners.

Housing and Water Minister Irfaan Ali pointed out that 24,000 house lots were created on the East Coast of Demerara alone during the past years, and that $3.8 billion had been spent by the Housing Ministry on the housing drive countrywide, which benefited about 100,000 persons.

He also talked about the house lots that were made available in Regions Two, Three, Four, Five, Six and Ten this year; and he promised that, come next year, emphasis would be placed on Regions Seven and Eight.

Networking efforts are also a priority for the Housing Ministry, with the construction of 100 miles of roads, 200 miles of drainage, and 45 miles of water distribution lines that have been laid down this year, in conjunction with the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH& PA).

Of the targeted 17,000 house lots that are expected to be distributed by September next year, 10,160 have already been allocated.

Meanwhile, staff of Durga Villa Homes Guyana Inc, Citizens Bank, GBTI, Hand-in-Hand, Everest Construction and Gafoors also facilitated potential home owners with information on steps to be taken to acquire their homes.

The One-Stop-Shop on Saturday was expected to be the final for the year, but Minister Ali noted the possibility of another one being held before year’s end.
