NY Indo-Caribbean Federation visits Enmore orphanage

With smiles and polite mannerisms, President of the Indo-Caribbean Federation, Ralph Tamesh and volunteers from Guyana were greeted by the Minister/Director Kenneth Finlayson, children, and staff of Hope Children’s Home. This establishment provides a loving and caring environment for children who need it the most. Hope Children’s Home was founded in 2001 by members of the Church of Christ in the United States, and offers hope to the abused, abandoned and neglected children of Guyana.

The Indo-Caribbean Federation, established in 1985, has been a strong force within the West Indian community for many years. The organisation’s mission has always been to create a strong unity amongst the Indo-Caribbean population.
Under the leadership of Ralph Tamesh, this vision continues to grow. Some of the major projects of the Indo-Caribbean Federation includes; yearly donations to charitable organisations throughout the Caribbean and United States, hosting the East Indian Arrival day celebrations in New York for the past twenty-seven years, and an annual cricket match for twenty-two years, and honouring retired national and international cricketers.
Tamesh delivered necessities such as bed linens, bath towels, cooking utensils, clothing and food items to the charismatic children of Hope Children’s Home. The kids, ranging in age five to seventeen, gathered outside eagerly to help unload the items. Despite going through immense adversity, the young ones maintain infectious smiles, laughter and continue to stay in great spirits, all bringing their own lovable quality to the family environment at HCH.
“It was a great privilege to be able to help in a little way. I feel extremely lucky to have the opportunity to look into the eyes of the children of Hope Children’s Home. I was able to speak with and interact with each of them. The staff, such as Seeta and Surujdai, take such great care of each child. We must thank them for that.” said Mr. Tamesh.
“We are grateful to the ICF, for the contribution they have made. I hope the Federation continues its mission with great success. We thank all the volunteers that accompanied Mr. Tamesh,” said Minister Finlayson.
On behalf of the executives of the ICF, Mr Tamesh would like to thank the following individuals for their assistance: Aunt Doreen, Cousin Baby who initiated this event, Bibi, Sunil, Nanda, Lalita, Geeta and Amelia. He hopes to receive their continued support for future humanitarian events by the Indo-Caribbean Federation in Guyana.
