No decision yet on Hero CPL finals venue

Championship Game: Guyana Amazon Warriors v Barbados Tridents - CPL 2014Just 15 days away from the opening match of the Hero Caribbean League (CPL) 2016 and  there is still no word on the venue for the final.

Organisers are still to finalise negotiations with the bidding parties and before making a choice for the showpiece match of the June 29 to August 7 tournament, they want to ensure everything was in place.

In an interview with WEEKENDSPORT, CPL chief operating officer Pete Russell said it was somewhat frustrating that they had not yet been able to pick a venue.

“We’re obviously very keen to announce the final as quickly as we can but as you can appreciate, it is a very important decision for the CPL. It’s our flagship event of the tournament. For us, it is very important that we get the right partner there,” Russell said.

CPL has so far announced that four matches will be played in St. Kitts and Nevis, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago in the Caribbean and six matches will be played in Florida at the Central Broward County Ground in Lauderhill.

However, no official word was made about the venue for the three play-off matches and grand final.
