No charges laid for Anna Catherina triple murder

Dead: Afridi Bacchus

Close to two months after the gruesome murder of Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara businesswoman Jennifer Persaud and her two sons, police are still to make a case against the two main suspects who were released from custody.
On the day the discovery was made, the dead woman’s reputed husband Rudolph Earnest was taken into custody, while the man’s uncle was apprehended the following day. Both men have maintained their innocence, but relatives strongly believe that they are the perpetrators of the horrendous crime.
Crime Chief Seelall Persaud on Monday stated that the pieces of evidence that were sent to be tested at a local laboratory have returned, but further recommendations were made for the said pieces to be sent for DNA testing.
Persaud disclosed that since Guyana is not equipped to conduct such testing, the pieces will have to be sent overseas. This test is essential to finding the murderer.
The crime chief did not specify how soon the pieces of evidence will be sent overseas, and more importantly, how long it will take before the results are made known.

Dead: Jennifer Persaud

Guyana Times International understands that the bloodstains found on several pieces of items as well as on a jersey that was found at Ernest uncle’s house are the pieces that required the DNA testing.
In light of this new revelation, Amanda Ahamad, the eldest daughter of the deceased woman stated that her family is frustrated by the way the police are dragging their feet on the issue, as she believes that the evidence collected points to the two suspects.
She is hoping that the police speed up their investigations so that the persons responsible for her mother’s and brothers’ deaths can be put behind bars and bring closure to the case.

Dead: Jadon Persaud

Jennifer Persaud, 41, also called “Jenny” and her two sons Afridi Bacchus, six, and 17-month-old Jadon Persaud of Lot 67 Sea View, Anna Catherina, WCD were found with their throats slit in a bedroom of their two-storey house.
Earnest was subsequently taken into police custody as the main suspect, but he is maintaining his innocence.
Bacchus was the woman’s son from a previous relationship, while the younger child was fathered by the main suspect.
The now dead woman reportedly shared an abusive relationship with Earnest, who was deported from the United States a few years ago. It was reported that due to the constant physical abuse Persaud received from her young boyfriend, she would normally complain to relatives, but just over a week prior to her death, it became unbearable and she put him out of her house.  A post-mortem examination performed on the remains of Persaud, Bacchus and Jadon Persaud confirmed that they died as a result of multiple stab wounds and haemorrhaging.
