New York-based Guyanese honoured at Diaspora meeting in India

Guyanese American George Subraj was honored at the GOPIO summit in Kochin, Kerala, India, on Sunday evening at a lavish banquet.  Mr. Subraj was recognised for his community service assisting many persons in need in both USA and  his native Guyana.
Subraj was born in Guyana and currently resides in New York.  He is CEO of Zara Realty Holdings also based in New York. He is dedicated to supporting diverse community projects in USA and Guyana, including donating medical equipment and services to the needy.
Mr. Subhraj was previously honored with many awards and titles. Among them being: Medal of Service (MS) Government of Guyana; US Army and Navy Medal and Commendation (Organ Transplant Dept; Guyana-Tristate Alliance Award; Hindu Sangathan Divas Award; New York City Council Member Award; The Guyana & America Business & Professional Council Award; Sri Devi Mandir of Queens Award; Prem Bhakti Mandir of Queens, NY Award; New York Hospital, Queens, Blood Donor Award.
“I am pleased that GOPIO has conferred its Community Service Award to George Subraj for his dedication and commitment to the overseas Indian community. It is indeed a distinct honour that is truly deserved,” says President of GOPIO, Mr. Ashook Ramsaran.
Ramsaran described Subraj’s generosity and commitment as admirable. “His dedication and commitment to the issues of overseas Indian community and his continuing efforts to promote and preserve the values and rich tradition of Indian culture and heritage are very commendable. I am proud of his many years in support of the community in public and social service, as well as his exemplary achievements and his commitment to human rights,” says Ramsaran.
