New Jersey Humanitarian Mission to continue outreach in Guyana

The New Jersey Arya Samaj Mandir Humanitarian Mission (NJASMHM) is eagerly preparing for another year of outreach and charitable activities in Guyana. The Mission will be in Guyana from July 15 through August 15, 2011. Over the past seven years, the Mission has reached out to thousands of Guyanese who live in a state of neglect and poverty, as they believe that the cruel hands of neglect have left these unfortunate victims behind. Through the generosity of donors and sponsors the organisation’s mission to seek and offer assistance wherever and whenever they can, was realized.

Even though the economic situation around the world has significantly reduced the amount of charitable outpouring from contributors, the Mission was able to amass a significant amount of funds through their Cinder Block Donation Drive, and they are hoping to break ground on the Benevolent Home project for the seniors, abused women, men and orphans this summer. Their collaborative efforts with several other groups and contributors in the New York and New Jersey areas have enabled success in the Grand Fund-Raising Boat Ride. They partnered with Laparkan Trading Limited to ship several barrels of used clothing that were donated by the Guyanese-American community for distribution to poor communities.

Over the past seven years they handed out merchandise to children and adults; built houses and donated them freely and generously. This year they wanted to channel their efforts in a slightly different direction. Last April their first of many Empowerment Initiatives saw fruition.

The organisation says that it has a strong belief that the people of Guyana are independent and strong-willed, and as such they are committed to supporting a path of upward mobility for more people to seek and develop their full potential.

The Board of Directors of the NJASMHM expresses its thanks to all donors and supporters for their continued support and generosity.
