Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force, Brigadier Patrick West, MSS, earlier this week promoted 28 Officer Cadets to the Rank of Ensign following the successful completion of the first year of the Standard Officers’ Course number 50.
The second year will see the Ensigns undergoing academic training alongside their military studies. After they have successfully completed the second phase of training they will be recipients of an Associate Degree in General Studies made possible through a memorandum of understanding between the Force and the University of Guyana. This batch of Ensigns have been trained in Jungle Warfare, Paratrooping Equitation and Watermanship. (In this DPI photo Officers give salute).
