President Donald Ramotar has continued with his task of re-organising the executive.
The composition of Cabinet has been settled, with the exception of the appointment of a tourism, industry and commerce minister.
The design of the work programme for the Cabinet has also been adopted.
Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr Roger Luncheon at a post-Cabinet press briefing at the Office of the President said advisors that have been appointed include those who were there before: Gail Teixeira, Odinga Lumumba, Reepu Daman Persaud and Shyam Nokta; however, Navin Chandarpal has been appointed as advisor on sustainable development and science and technology.
Sub-committees of Cabinet have also been reconstituted and new subcommittees, including infrastructure and justice have been added, totalling eight.
Additionally, sectoral ministers have been directed by the president to form advisory bodies on which the local and foreign non-governmental personalities would sit and advise the sector ministers.
“Cabinet has already recognised among its priorities, the local government reform which would be the subject of its very first sector strategy meeting in 2012,” the HPS said.
