A mother of seven was on Tuesday morning found dead with numerous chop wounds to the body.

Tessa Ramascindo

Tessa Ramascindo of Rasta Country, Laluni, Soesdyke/Linden Highway was allegedly chopped to death by her reputed husband, Sewnarine Deonarine (47), after a domestic altercation earlier that day. From all indications, the incident occurred just after 09:00h, but the woman’s body was discovered by relatives at approximately 10:00h after Deonarine had informed family members of what he had done. Terrence Henry, husband of Ramascindo’s eldest child, told Guyana Times International that he was working in the farm when he received a phone call from the accused, who informed him of what he had done.

Relatives said the couple would, from time to time, have heated arguments that would see Deonarine dealing Ramascindo several blows to the body. A visit to the couple’s Rasta Country house saw relatives and friends gathered to show support for the woman’s children, who are now left to fend for themselves. The couple’s children explained that when they left home for school on Tuesday morning at approximately 7: 00h, their parents were in good spirits. However, Guyana Times International was told, the woman had left her reputed husband of approximately 25 years to start a relationship with another man last week.

“She left him and he kept begging her to come back. She eventually come back last night… they use to fight,” Monica Deonarine told Guyana Times International.

Sewnarine Deonarine is alleged to have murdered his reputed wife

Christine Deonarine, another child of the couple, said, “They had domestic problems… he used to cuss she every day, and he threaten she and tell she he going to kill she… he gonna chop off she neck.” The woman’s body was found in her back yard following a trail of blood in the sand alongside the house in which the family lived.

“Like he kill she out here in the yard and like he fetch the body and dump it at the back by the toilet in the bush,” the son-in-law said. No blood was observed in the house, but according to the woman’s son- in-law, her neck had been chopped in several places, one hand was severed, stab wounds were visible, and she was chopped across the mouth.

No murder weapon was discovered. Relatives were clueless as to where Deonarine could have fled after committing the heinous crime. Ramascindo leaves to mourn her seven children: Harry Deonarine (23) Amrita Deonarine (20), Monica Deonarine (19), Angela Deonarine (14), Wanita Deonarine (13), Christine Deonarine (11), and Jennifer Deonarine (7).
