Missing Friendship man’s skeleton discovered

The skeletal remains of Rajesh Winter, 28, of Lot 34 River’s View, Friendship, East Bank Demerara, were discovered in a clump of bush some distance from his house on Monday, May 23. The man had reportedly left home about two weeks ago.

Speaking with Guyana Times International via telephone, Christine Persaud, the dead man’s widow, related that they were celebrating her birthday on May 9 when an argument ensued, resulting in her husband leaving the house with a bottle of poison. She noted that the father of two did not return home the following morning, so a search party was created to locate him. Persaud said that after searching for more than two weeks at the homes of relatives and friends, they came up empty-handed.

The grieving woman disclosed that, on Monday, she and the dead man’s mother and uncle decided to search in an area opposite DIDCO in Friendship, EBD. While there, they saw Winter’s bicycle and made the gruesome discovery when they went in for a closer look.

“He done turned skeleton; I recognise he by he clothes and part of he face still had some flesh, but burn up due to the sun,” the woman related.

Winter’s family is in a state of shock. The deceased, who once resided in Timehri, was described as a hard worker who always took care of his family. He leaves to mourn his wife, children, parents and four siblings.
