Miss Guyana Universe holding ‘Glorious’ children’s benefit concert

Miss Universe Guyana, Tamika Henry, along with her former sponsor Camilla Saunders, proprietrix of the Candlelight Gift Shoppe, will be hosting “Glorious”, a children’s benefit concert which will be held on December 19 at the Queen’s College Auditorium.

Henry said that the idea was berthed when she and Camilla desired to make Christmas a bit more special for needy children. They eventually decided that holding a benefit concert would surely brighten the children’s Christmas holidays.

Singers, dancers from the Classique dance company, steel pan players, the Christ-like Soldiers, and many other artistes will be entertaining the kids. There will also be a fashion show, in which young children will strut their stuff on the catwalk wearing pieces from Nino’s Boutique, located at the Multiplex Mall.

Santa and Disney characters like Dora and Mickey Mouse will also be entertaining the kids; and lots of toys and candies will be available.

The event, according to Henry, is for both adults and children. “The children will be enjoying and having fun, while the adults will help raise money for the unfortunate kids,” she said.

Further, Henry pointed out, she and Camilla are hoping that the event becomes an annual one, and other Miss Guyana Universe winners support the endeavour.

“It’s a private thing, but I want to leave my mark. It’s the first year, and we want others to continue with it. And I urge persons to support it because, today, young people are often getting involved in negative activities, and this event is all clean and positive, and we don’t usually see this happening,” she added.
