The much-anticipated Miss Guyana India Worldwide Pageant will now be held on Saturday, November 19 at Princess Hotel, Providence, East Bank Demerara. The “Real Bollywood Divas” who were slated to judge the pageant will not be able to do so, hence two Bollywood stars will now be adjudicators. They are Miss Femina India 2004 and Miss Universe top 10 delegate Tanushree Dutta, a famed actress and model, and singer, filmmaker, actress and model Poonam Jhawer, whose claim to fame is the role of Priya Agnihotri in the 1994 movie “Mohra”.

The line-up of nine Guyanese beauties carded to contest the second annual Miss India Guyana Pageant is being taken through their paces, as they prepare for the battle to become Guyana’s beauty ambassador to the international pageant in Suriname on February 25, 2012.

The Guyana pageant night will feature delegates, aged 18 to 24 from various backgrounds, appearing in four segments: evening wear, Indian wear, talent and the final question to determine who is best suited to take on the responsibility of being Guyana’s beauty ambassador to the Miss India Worldwide pageant.

The delegates are: Artie Deodat, Miss Ishara Dance Troup; Varsha Arjune, Miss Regal Stationery; Umadevi Bux, Miss Lux Entertainment; Tahirih Boodhoo, Miss S Boodhoo; Hashana Komal, Miss Kamarang Inc; Katherina Roshana, Miss RK Group of Companies; Sandiya Samaroo, Miss APSARA Magazine; Alana Seebarran, Miss New GPC; and Diana Hussain, Miss APSARA Dance School. The queen will also win a return trip to Mumbai, India, as well as a cash prize and a four-year University of Guyana scholarship.
