Miss Guyana India 2011 contestants promise to rock pageant

The nine contestants vying for the title of Miss Guyana India were on Friday evening sashed by their sponsors at the Pegasus Hotel poolside. The girls, decked in their matching gold and blue outfits, promised that come October 28, they will rock the Pegasus Hotel.

On Friday evening, Artie Deodat was sashed as Miss Ishara Dance Troup; Varsha Arjune as Miss Regal Stationery; Umadevi Bux as Miss Lux Entertainment; Tahirih Boodhoo as Miss S Boodhoo; Hashana Komal as Miss Kamarang Inc; Katherina Roshana as Miss RK Group of Companies; Sandiya Samaroo as Miss Apsara Magazine; Alana Seebarran as Miss New GPC; and Diana Hussain as Miss Apsara Dance School.

The nine beauties noted that training has been intense and they are all getting their final pieces ready for the big event. This pageant is known for its prestige, and the delegates will be sparkling on pageant night. These beautiful young ladies were all excited, and indicated that they have one common goal – winning the title.

These well-groomed young ladies will be competing in evening wear, Indian wear, talent and the final question segments to determine who is best suited to be Guyana’s beauty ambassador to the Miss India Worldwide pageant.

The queen will be representing Guyana at the Miss India Worldwide pageant in Suriname on February 25, 2011. She will also win a return trip to Mumbai, India, as well as a cash prize and a four-year University of Guyana scholarship.

The judging panel will include Miss Femina India 2002 and Bollywood actress, Neha Dhupia; sultry actress Riya Sen and famous “Dance India Dance” host Sauyma Tandon.
